Tremec box
Does anyone know, Would a Tremec box from an '04 Mustang bolt up to a 70s/80s Ford 302 engine ?
Hi
Presumably it originated behind a ford mod engine, in which case I believe the bell housing bolt patterns are the same and yes it should. Acording to wikipedia they are the same http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Fo ... g_patterns ie all common small block bolt pattern. There may be an issue with the box being "canted" over at a slightly different angle, but that can be sorted out with selecting or making a different gearbox mount and correcting the oil level.
Best regards
Mike

poppet valves rule!
Most of the bolt holes line up but the dowels are in different places and the starter sits too high.
Pic of T56 from modular V8

Same box with adapted and welded T5 bellhousing fitted.

Off the shelf bellhousings are available to fit a T56 or TKO 600 for the 302 but some of the modular V8 tremecs have an integrated bellhousing that would have to be chopped and welded to fit.
