TVR 350i wedge, flapper EFi, fuel pump supplier?

Hi
Looks like fuel pump is u/s, have voltage to pump when cranking and when flapping the flapper. Pump "jolts" then nothing, have reversed connections to run pump backwards, another "jolt" then nothing. Tank is full less 40 miles. Has anyone used this ebay supplier: ebay item number 110489807832

Assuming V8 Owners Forum has a naming/shaming policy, please PM me if it's bad news!

Car did 200 miles on back roads yesterday while the sheep were watching something on the tele, didn't miss a beat. It's probably some sort of TVR ritual ;)

is the black top on the AFM still in place if not then the conector strip that closes when the flap is flapped can get dirty and that stops the pump if the connection is not clean ..
if yours is an external pump a for sierra injection one will do or jag ones do too ...its a common type and there are loads that will do the job if it is the pump
remember it's only a bodge if it DOSN'T worK

Thanks Bodger, black cover is in place but sealed with duct tape, looks clean inside, I've sprayed the workings of the AFM with contact cleaner but no joy. I need to check the exact voltage to the pump, the installation date of the original is unknown me, so 3 years old plus.

No markings easily visible on the pump, any ideas as to type? I've removed the fixing bolts to take a look at the thing:

its possible its the pump , if it has run out of fuel at any time it can shorten the life of it ...

bought it second hand a few years ago and still going strong ...
get the pump off and connect to a battery ... that will soon tell you how the pump is ...
if no luck there are a few other bits it might be ..:)

There are a few alternatives that will fit and work, but the original Bosch makes less noise - if that matters.

On the SD1, there is a series resistor so the pump runs on about 9 volts. This is to reduce the noise even more, as the 3.5 engine doesn't need the full output. If yours has one you might check it isn't burnt out or whatever.

Thanks for the replies, 10.5v at the pump with flapper flapped. I applied battery voltage direct to the pump, no change, just the "jolt" then nothing. Car doesn't have a swirl pot before the pump, but does have twin tanks with outlets from both going to a T-piece and then to the pump, so during cornering there should be fuel available at all times. Car hasn't run out of fuel in my ownership, but has spluttered and coughed a few times recently.
No pre-pump filter fitted either, so now's the time to deal with that.

New pump installed, I used a couple of flexible pipe clamps to hold back the 10 gallons of petrol sitting in the tanks, and they worked! Which was a surprise.

All back together after a bit of fight with the clamp for the pump, went to connect the insulated female crimped terminals in final victory, different size to the terminals on the pump. Drat. Lesson is, check terminal sizes before fitting pump.

Blade terminals on new pump are 8mm wide for one and 6mm wide for the other, existing female crimps appear to be 7mm, don't fit one and flop about on the other, will buy a selection tomorrow. Close examination reveals that someone has cut, ground or filed one of the terminals to the old pump to achieve a fit.

I connected the new pump direct to the battery, a satisfying whirrrrrrr, so looking hopeful.

Check the new pump for + & - markings at the terminals. Some types are confusing and have the larger terminal as the -ve.

Now up and running, annoyed that I ended up modifying the crimped connectors to fit (forced one blue female spade connector onto the smaller terminal, squashed a bigger yellow female spade connector onto the larger terminal, doubled up conductor).

Old pump is badged as Lucas but "Made in Germany", number is 0 580 484 014 which is close to many Bosch numbers

You may want to check you have a pre-filter, injection pumps should have a corse pre-filter before the pump then a fine one after.
Also are you using injection hose, as I thought the over braid hose was only for Carbs.
