Hi, I've got a 3.5 RV8 with hurricane cam and holley 390 carb in a kit car. It's running reasonably well but still stings my eyes a bit in the garage with the fumes!
Does anyone know a good tuner in Bucks with experience of this kind of set up ???
Here's where I am so far..
Can anyone that I've got this holley 390 set up right..
And, am I right to connect the front right flame trap to the airfilter as I'd planned?
I've rotated the dizzy and got it running with no backfiring and idling about 900rpm-ish!
I haven't checked the manifold vacuum.
I've got the fuel pressure set at just under 3 psi..
I started by backing out the mix screws 1.3/4 turns... then inwards by aprox 1 turn to get where I am now.
Floats were set dry when I rebuilt the carb.
Drove up the lane and under load in first it struggled a bit to get moving and backfired once?? On the move with seemed ok. No room to get out of first, sorry! Any ideas??
Cheers

Why have you got the fuel pressure set so low??
These are supposed to be 4-7psi carbs.
I've only got experience on the 4150 square bore 600 double pumper. But this smaller model with vac secondaries cant be much different.
Where do you live Steve??
I'm in Buckingham Bucks and I have a few holley carb parts and service kits.
Maybe you could pop over one wekend for a bit of a heads together test session to see if we can get it better before you take it to a pro to finish off eh?
Martin at Marlin Motors does all my fine tuning on the dyno..
Give me the numbers off the carb. 4011 etc...

I'm in Aylesbury. However, the kit car is yet not IVA'd or registered to run it on the roads. If you let me know your number I could call for chat. Mine is 07974112830.
