Why do all carbs seem the same?

Got a weber carb with my bargain buy v8 but not sure what model it is. Was told it was a holley but when i cleaned it i found weber on the side. Then i saw edelbrock for sale that looks identical to mine. Ae these companies working together?

Carter AFB/Edelbrock/Weber - same basic carb but manufactured under different labels at different times
