Presently rebuilding a 3.5 V8 for my comp safari land rover. The engine has had some tuning in the past, ie, omega pistons, 3.9 heads, balanced rods and competition cam shaft ect. At the moment it runs on standard twin SU carbs, but I would like to fit fuel injection. Can anyone reccomend the best system I can fit that can be sourced from genuine land rover parts.
Thanks

Re: Fuel Injection for Land Rover V8
If you wish to use standard land rover parts, best to go back to a standard land rover engine. Once you start messing with cams, compression ratios etc, a standard map won't be correct. And factory ECUs are not designed to be re-mapped easily - whereas MegaSquirt, etc is.larryowner wrote:Presently rebuilding a 3.5 V8 for my comp safari land rover. This might help http://www.megamanual.com/index.html
or better still, here - http://www.megasquirt-v8.co.uk/index.php

It's an aftermarket ECU. Ultra flexible in how it can be configured in software, it can use pretty well any of the injection hardware on any engine, ie injectors, sensors etc. And control injection and ignition or only one of them. I started out fuel only then changed to ignition control as well after I was happy with that.larryowner wrote:thanks for replies, DaveEFI could you explain what megasquirt is please, I've seen it mentioned here and there but thats it. thanks
Near enough maps are available (free) for pretty well any variant of the RV8 which will get it running. Fine tuning can be quite a steep learning curve, but lots of free support is around.
How much it costs is up to you, and how much of the installation you are willing to DIY. Roughly 300 - 1000 quid.
