Will this fuel pump do?

Post by Crazy »

I was wondering if this fuel pump would do the job nicely for my 3.5L RV8 running on twin SU carbs?

I know Facet pumps are the ones to go for really, or at least they're the ones everyone says to go for, but I wasn't sure which one I should go for. This one seems a good one, but I just wanted to make sure.

I was going to use my standard fuel pump I already have, but something tells me that 4 bar of pressure is a bit much for twin SU carbs

Cheers

Hi Crazy
This pump should work ok if you are planning on staying with the SU's but be warned they are very noisy and if you do decide to go up to a Webber at a later stage then this will not give you enough fuel to run at full chat.
The E bay one is a very good price though.

cheers

How noisy is very noisy? I don't think I'll be able to afford to uprate the carb to a 4bbl due to having some stuff stolen out the car :(

Hi
had one in a Mini, with Knackered drop gears (that classic mini whine) and a fibre glass front end, you could head it at 40 but not at 60MPH. If you mount them on rubber stand offs under the car it should be ok
Best regards

I go with a Facit Red top
Better fuel flow and only a clicking noise

Hello Crazy,

Place the pump down close to the fuel tank and the ticking will be much less audible. In any case it is only at idle that it is likely to be heard, driving along or with the radio on, no probs at all.

Ron.

P.S I run a Facet red top in series with a mechanical pump, using the red top only if vapour lock starts to occur.
