I was thinking the same thing! (Would the Rover pickup work when connected straight to the MSD). In the end I went for the MSD pickup so that I could get the polarity right straight from the outset. (Also the MSD unit has some sort of timing drift compensation circuit built in that is used when the MSD pickup is fitted)DEVONMAN wrote:Pete.

Glad to hear it all worked and that the msd pickup worked with the Rover reluctor. Sometime I intend to try the Rover pickup/reluctor on one of the projects and get rid of the ign amp.

I did not want to use the Lucas amp to trigger the MSD because I have reason to believe that the Lucas amp creates 'noise'. Basically I had an Clubman rev limiter and that would do 'odd' things yet it was fine on my mates Chevy. Also I have a Summit RPM window switch and that would not work with the Lucas box until I fitted a 1.2 volt zenner diode in the signal circuit. I tried 3 different amps on the side of the dizzy too! The RPM window switch works fine with the MSD!
