Hi Perry,
what ratio would you like? they range from about 2.8 to 7.3 but you can probably get "specials" got a 31 spline spool going if you want it?
There are a few pinin sets on summit http://www.summitracing.com/search/Depa ... Rank%7cAsc
Best regards
Mike

No point in swapping unless I can go better than 3.07:1 ??

Hi Perry
I would think carefully about choice of axel here, I think the 9" would not be that suitable for the MG, it is too big and will rob about 20 bhp more than an 8.8", also it is heavy. Come and have a measure up if you want and compare it with the 8.8 when we have done the raid on Tony's garage. I don't think the costs of the two are that different (unless you know where to get a shiny new 8.8 for free) but the 8.8 would seem a better choice to me.
Best regards
Mike

Ive got a 3.45 in my sd1 and a 3.80 in the ford 8". The way i was told its lower gears but higher numerically. Yank axles have 2.7 ratios or so in there axles because of motorway cruising, but slow pullaway. Mike would know better than me.

I also swapped my 3.08 to a 3.45 in my Sd1. Really does make a difference and can still reach max velocity of 150.
I tried a 3.9 out of a 2 ltr once. I just screemed all the way to 120mph in 5th. The axle didnt last too long either!
Also i think Perry runs 26" dia tyres which is going to give him longer legs.
Just done a check 26" tyre, 1:1 in 3rd auto, 3.08 axle gives 125.57 at 5000 rpm and 138.13 at 5500 rpm.
Seems a good ratio to me after all

As Perry is hoping to run lower 10's and ultimately into the 9's then he will need the gearing for 130+ wont he?
Thats why i think his currnet gearing is set up ok.
He just hasn't hooked off the line lately as he used to.
As soon as he does and if the nitrous modifications provide the power we all hope for then the numbers will fall and the terminals will climb.
