Pel, have you thought about hoiking out your repair and getting someone to tig weld the hole up as close as poss, if it needs a smooth by the liner you could JB it but then the gas wouldn't have anywhere to go because of the solid weld behind the JB- if that makes any sense...?

It all makes sense mate. But I'm not sure I like the idea of getting the liner that hot in one small area.
I've just tapped another small piece of metal into the slit with more glue. I'll trim it up this evening and prepare the head. I've got another block to try and sort out anyway. Block is good but 23 liners are rusted and may need boring out.

Plus its fun seeing just how many times I can patch up this broken block and still get some racing in :)

No time to contemplate anything now. I've only got 2 days to be ready to rock. And then the following Sunday as well :)

Well!!
I glued some more gaskets on. Well, one actually. And she burst into life first flick of the key yet again??
Neighbours were a bit surprised as they havent heard the MG since it had silencers fitted.. I did tell the two that were outside cutting grass that I was going to start it anyway :)

I only let her idle for 10 secons before shutting off. They both came over to ask what was wrong? Then i explained that was why I dont tinker with it running on the drive anymore.

Major bummer!!

They could not dry the track today. 7am to 1pm with the blowers going trying to get the track open.
Long story short. I waited from 8am to 3.30pm for my first run. Track was still not great so I smoked up the tyres in a monster burnout.

Fantastic hook up when the lights changed. But I broke the rear axle by the time I got to the Xmas tree.
So it cost me £25 for an aborted run. I did pull a 0 second reaction time though. The first 0 I've ever done I think??
But the 60 foot time was 2.3 seconds. If the bloody shafts could have held out for 3 seconds I reckon I might have pulled a high 1.4 60foot??

So I'll bung some more shafts in and try a more gentle launch next Sunday

My rear tyres wers so hot that they stuck to the track when i came to a stop. As the guys started to push me back I thought the tranny had locked. But with my Son and a couple of the pod guys pushing. It sounded like a big plaster being pulled off as the rear tyres let go of the track.

Me being pushed back !! Oh the Shame :)

Got home this evening to find Jason had already stripped the diff cover off to check for breakage and clean it out. And had already fitted a new drivers side shaft. While the car is still on the trailer

Diff all ok this time thanks to extra welding last time. So just 2 clean sheared shafts. I only have 1 or 2 pairs left now I think. So I better think about getting some more.

Jason made up a magnet on a pole that slides inside a 22mm copper tube to pull the stubs out. The copper tube locates the magnet perfectly so the broken but can be retrieved in a few seconds so we dont have to pull the cage to get the bits out :D

The other side will be done tomorrow and then we will be ready for next Sunday !!

This car obviously does not want a wash. I told her last year that she will get a wash when she gives me another strong 10. So far she has been quite naughty I reckon
