the easy way is leave the dissy in situ and use it to run the pump, but you cam on a Rover cut the top off the dissy and fit a shaft retaining system, so basically you have a stub of a shaft held in the bottom of the dissy body that then fits to the spur gear and still drive the pump

I asked the same question on TurboMustangs forum and was told that I could use a Ford Explorer camshaft phase sensor.glen wrote:hi people in my computer, how do i drive the oil pump when using coil pack ignition? ford 302w with no dizzy, do i have to cut down the shaft somehow? any info appreciated, cheers, glen
I got one from U.S. Ebay and have just been down the shed to take a picture

Still quite long, but not as ugly as an unused dizzy.
I might try to make it shorter when I get the spare time.

On the RV8, does the dummy need the shaft retained at the top? Or is it ok to just let it rest on the pump drive? I reckon the gear action will tend to push it upwards, so should be OK when running, the thrust being on the bottom of the dizzy body as usual.ian.stewart wrote:the easy way is leave the dissy in situ and use it to run the pump, but you cam on a Rover cut the top off the dissy and fit a shaft retaining system, so basically you have a stub of a shaft held in the bottom of the dissy body that then fits to the spur gear and still drive the pump
