best engine and box for 1200 -1500?

Post by baxterbaxter »

just bought a rang rover with a Rpi 4.6, which was destined for my capri, but, now i cant decide to break the truck and engine and use the money for another v8 and box, as dumb as that sounds, just rover v8's always scare me a bit.. hopefully have about 1200 to 1500 squid to get an engine and box, maybe abit more if i sell some more crap. But what is the 'best' available for that sort of money? i know its not alot but i am a filthy student after all...

Probably Chev (much as I hate to admit it)

that say you can get some Ford Mod motors (4.6 Overhead cam units for just a bit more money) Modern motors that can be beefed up for high HP - High HP will olways cost! Probably cheapest though with a Chav - hence the first line of this post

Either use the engine as-is or sell it as-is.

What happens if you sell just one or two components say ecu and block? - you are left short of cash and an engine it bits that you may not be able to sell.

So unless you have a long list of people who have given you a deposit for all the parts, I would leave it in once piece and stick in in your capri.

For that sort of money there's not a lot that will really outperform your 4.6, you won't get another ally engine for that money so you will lose your weight advantage. 4.6 has got plenty of power for a Capri and will fit no probs!
