fresh air injection ?
have 1987 3.5 in landrover which has 3 pipes on each bank coming from the head to a y pipe & connecting into air intake pipe from filter
apart from getting in the way when replacing the plugs what are they used for & do i need to keep them for the mot.
has been said by some landrover lads to take off & plug up holes??

pulsair is to reduce unburnt fuel/oil.--during warm up and deceleration and if it has a thermal reactor pump--oz sd1 --it will work on cruise.
oz models dont have a cat.Pollution "bag test"is measured of a set trip.to meet the trip quantity air pumps and tall axle ratio are used.
the air jet in the port is aimed at the valve.when the ex valve closes the drop in pressur allows a PULSE of clean air to burn any fuel left in the header.
Cataliser engines use oxygen to mix with unburnt HC to oxidise and generate heat in the catalist.a fast burn-lean burn engines mitubishi/rover dont require a catalist except to meet NOX .
NOX [created under load] is reduce by increased unburnt HC.so most systems are designed not to work when high back pressure occures.
modern diesel; are now adding fuel to exhaust like subaru and evo have done to get the tubo working.
