Tom,

Looks like they may have had a little bowl work, probably standard heads, oval port, closed chamber. They work really well in a heavy door car on the street, a full size road legal yank with a 454 and these heads won't outrun your mazda without a fair bit of gas. If you are planning race only look for the rectangular ports and build the bottom end for 8k revs. 8-71, roller cam and you are past 1000hp. If they go for 3-400 then its a fair price, anything more is too dear. Newish bronze guides and the roller rockers are all that really make them worthwhile. Bare oval port castings go for about 50 quid a pair. Oh yeah, Older chevy heads do crack around the valve seats, for a street car not a problem, but for racing a big problem waiting to happen.

Tom
On e-bay at the moment 360cc chamber rectangular port BBC heads from RHS are going for less than I paid for my 235 port SBC heads these flow 400 cuft/min as cast and would give big power, pro comp ones are about half this.
