Had a brilliant day today car went really well. new valve springs have totally solved the problem. Engine felt really crisp and was eager to rev.
Managed to out drag a Porche GT3 out of Camp and down the straight.
I honestly think the Merlin heads are the best upgrade so far and are great value for money.

Mark,

Great news, and I always like to hear that an MGB outdragged a Porshe GT3,he's probably rushing back to the dealership saying it's down on power

Now got rocker shaft end supports fitted. Had new ones made from steel.
Here is a clip of my last trackday. The white evo X at about 6mins in is my brothers with 400bhp and 420 torques.

Great stuff. Show those ricers & porkers that a properly sorted RV8 takes some beating!

That is a great video. Just goes to show it's power to weight! You were past alot of more powerful machines like they were stationary! It's great to see a car driven and used (says he who has covered about 100 miles in the last 5 years!)

Planning on doing more driving and less modifications from now on.

After fitting the Merlin heads my bonnet wouldnt quite fit so I have had to make a bigger bulge. I now have room for either a taller air filter (current filter is a 3 inch K&N with xtream top) or a 1 inch spacer between the carb and Huffaker inlet manifold. I read somewhere that mounting the carb higher will increase power.
Anyone ?

Mark

I know I said Ive finished modifying but this would be so easy!

Mark!
You can get a 1" billet ally spacer that has nitrous injectors fitted. Mine is a lot of fun :D
That means you get the effect of the bigger chamber plus 50-150hp extra on tap to help you along those straight bits of those circuits
