rear oil seal

do all engines use the same rear oil seal
or do the 3.9 and 4.6 use the same
i got to take engine out to replace mine .can i replace with out removing the bearing cap.

Yes, except for early rope seal P5/6 block the rear oils seals are all identical.
Rover Powered to 11.63sec @ 128mph.

You can definitely change it without removing the crankshaft.

I don't see why you can't remove it and keep the rear bearing cap in situ.

Be aware that there are cruciform seals in the rear bearing cap which must seal properly, and further, I have had oil leaking down the threads of the two long bolts holding the sump on under that part of the engine!
