westfield Seight 4.6 V8 (VEMS)
hello all,
After 2.5 years fitting a rover v8 4.6 engine to my westfield, i can finally post the project here.
I've finally done my first legal road miles, and now the tuning of the engine/vems can start.
most info can be found on my VEMS memberspage here.

That looks very nice, should keep a smile on your face.
The advantage of electronic tuning is that you normally stay clean
.
That air filter looks very small, although I realise you don't have too much space.

Some is good, more is better, and too much is just enough!!

yes i also think air filter is small...as its the one i originally had on my 3.5 engine..
i also might need to bore the plenum out to 71-72mm yet....to get more air in.
Wont really know till i get it on a rolling road, sometime next year...after running the engine in this year.
So that why the plenum isn't powdercoated yet....as not sure what mods it might need.

Interesting. What would be considered OK - and what needs attention?Eliot wrote:re. throttle size.
turn ignition on - note the MAP reading with engine off.
Start engine, start logging onto PC
Do a Wide open run and note the difference between the MAP values - the difference represents the restriction that the throttle and air filter are presenting to the engine.

Could I ask why you chose VEMS rather than MegaSquirt?Seight-V8 wrote:hello all,

dave,
I looked at every different ecu i could find....and even thought the land rover GEMS would do...
But in the end my own decision was based on the vems having everything in one place...instead of extras like megasquirt.
And it ran a 4 wire stepper motor like the rover needed.
i have no doubt there a better systems, but so far the vems is ticking all the right boxes that i need.
