RV8 straight out thermostat housing ?

I've tried a seatch but couldn't really find a definitive answer. So, does anyone know of a US thermostat housing that would fit a Hotwire manifold? Ideally I'm looking for one that sticks straight out'ish. I think John Eales does one but if there is a US V8 (or even a Euro car part) that is a direct fit that I can pick up for relative peanuts that would be great.

I think Tony had the same problem so he had one made, IIRC there are pics on his build thread.

Decided to machine my own thermostat housing which goes straight out. This is for my TR8, which has the serp front cover, Mallory dist, and one-off radiator. The Range Rover and TR8 thermostat housings go off in some direction. With my straight design the top hose clears my distributor and alternator. I also incorporated a temp sensor for the elec fan because the TR8 had the sensor on the radiator. This housing has an extra mounting hole which will allow me to also bolt it to a Bosch type lower intake manifold. In the future I plan to experiment with the Bosch lower manifold with a custom upper manifold.

Ford 351 cleveland is straight out and fits.

If your still looking for one, Dave Vale at V8 conversions does them with or without the bypass port.

I've seen a Ford version on ebay that's a Mr Gasket part but it looks like it may be chroma plated iron it's hard to tell. I'll give Dave Vale a call.

if it is of a cleveland it'll be chrome plated lead!

I got mine from John eales. He has them cast and then machines them at his workshop. Its a nice little item for not much money :)

Yeah I am hoping that this will sort out my cooling issue. With the standard item I have had to install a 180elbow and the top of the elbow is about 5mm higher than the water line of the header tank.

Iam intrested in one of these aswell but they dont come with a bypass port! so how would i get the flow of water through the heater matrix and back if i have only one way in/out. as i thought you need a flow from the top of the water pump to the matrix then one back through the manifold and to the outlet on the front cover/pump.
I have read that hot water needs to flow through manifold to prevent icing?

Drill a hole in the top of the thermostat. The later 82c ones have this hole already. I am using the older one which is a 74c I drilled it.
