oil pump

hello hello hello
any one know about rover v8 1987 carb 3.5 in a a landrover, oil pump/gears
as just replaced pump cover with moded 1 & a geared wheel feel out as i took off old cover.
Fitted said wheel with new pump cover & now no oil is being pumped
around engine
do's it need priming?? if so how

You could take it apart and pack the oil pump gears with vaseline.

Or you can take out the distributor, get a tool with the correct end (for the oil pump drive) and put it in a battery drill - keep whirring until you feel the pressure

Yes, it needs priming.

Pack the pump with vaseline

I just used a long M10 threaded bolt, cut the head off, and ground a groove into it to mate with the oil pump drive, most drills will take the 10mm diameter in their chucks easily.
Land Rover SIIA 88" fitted with a 180BHP V8
Some is good, more is better, and too much is just enough!!
