I bet you're well chuffed mate. There is something about top hats that looks 'just right'.

How long do you reckon it will take you to get it back together?

chuffed, im like a dog with two tails.

noticed the head locating dowles are missing, so need to contact v8d about them, there is also a mark on the face where it looks like a flat blade screw driver has hit,
that may of been done in transit, otherwise yup im happy,

the block is all cleaned now and all swarf removed, bores been oiled, and cam coated in compcam engine asssembly lube, and slid back into block,

the pistons are already to have the rings fitted and have started checking the rings in the bores for ring gaps.

bearings arrived from Realsteel today also,

hope to have the engine together and back in the car this weekend :D

Image
Cam lubed and sat in block, you can see the mark on the face above cylinder one,

Image
Does anyone know what these numbers may mean???? as wernt there when block went away,

Image
Flywheel now even lighter, not weighed it yet was 11.2kg i think when it went,

Tony,

Great to see you have it back, looks like a nice job and see thay have decked the block as you have lost the engine number, did they leave the top hats a bit proud or level with the decks?

Should have a bit more compression anyway, probably .25/1 if they took 10thou. off.

With a pre broken in cam you only have to bed in the rings and your set to go, have fun.

Kevin.

friggin' heck mate. I had my current flywheel lightened by about 5 pounds which I thought was ok. It was a Rangie flywheel which I think is a bit heavier than an sd1 flywheel, so I had it taken down to 27lb.

But not to 10!

If that thing holds out I think I might just have a standard one lightened. Let me know if you lose a leg!
