I'm pretty sure there's a 747bhp Wildcat V8 sitting in Mr Hansen's Tuscan, naturally aspirated :?:

You're obviously on drugs, either that or haven't a clue about Rover V8's

That comment confirms that you definitely DON'T know what you are talking about
Have to agree with the above and with dnb. well not with the way he said it.
Have dealt with both JE (JED) and DJE, and would never deal with DJE again, but would recommend JE to anyone.

you can email me if you want more info.

Is there a limit on engine size for this build?

This is interesting.!!
I've built 7 Rover 3500 v8's in the last 8 years for friends cars. They were all low compression engines on early heads for small sports cars. These are the old 8:1 cr engines that made around the 130hp mark from new. I've squeezed these old lumps up to 187 - 190 bhp on the dyno with modest head work and a Typhoon cam + the Weber 500 and 360 manifold + a balance job.

My own 4.6 has 110.000 miles on it. It has had 9 pistons melted in the last 18 months testing. The bores are damaged which gives me varying compressions from 150psi to 129psi. It has the same cam as the 3500's + a Holley 600 + single plane manifold and it still makes 203bhp on the dyno.

I'm wondering if I should do some serious tuning work on this big engine now. I have no problems pushing this old smoker to 400hp and 550 ft/lbs with nitrous for my days out. Maybe with a decent head job + balance and rebore I might tweak it up to 500hp on gas :)

I've used John Eales services for the last 2-3 years now. He can be a grumpy bugger now and then, but everythng he has ever done for me on my engines has worked just fine. And a lot of the stuff I do on my personal engines do make him raise his eyebrows now and then :)

I'm not a fan of high revving RV8's. But I have taken a couple of my RV8 3500's to 7500 on the dyno and one of them broke loose on the drag strip and revved to 8900rpm and lived to tell the tale.
This is all on stock Rover Rocker gear as well.

I'm no expert. I'm just a diy engine builder. But I do know its not that hard to get good power out of these engines. If I was going to look at building a RV8 that needed constant high rpm use I would be talking to Steve at Vibration free to balance it for me.

FWIW

I wouldn't touch DJE with a yardstick. I've dealt with him twice, and spoken on the phone about stuff a few times. He's very arrogant and if he get's a whiff that you're not gonna spend thousands of pounds then he's not really interested. I bought a thermal plate off him once and it was badly damaged, took me weeks to get a refund as he was such an arse about it.

He has a bad reputation, despite his skills as an engine builder.

JE is good, but a bit grumpy lol as mentioned.

Personally I'd use V8D.
RIP MGB V8 .... served me well as a learning curve.

R32 Skyline V8 .... this one is gonna be a monster!
