v6 capri back axle

Post by bertieboo »

I have a mk3 v6 capri axle with lsd along with a rover v8 engine, I have just been offered a standard 302 ford v8...my question is how long is the back axle likley to last with a tuned 302?

Hi Bertie
I think the axle should be quite strong enough to be honest.
It will obviously depend on the state of tune you plan to run at but you should be okay for a tleast a while.
Have a chat with Coops as he has been abusing his car with a fairly lairy motor for some time now and he would be able to give you the definative on this.
cheers

ok maybe a little bit
Hi Bertie,
you should be fine mate i have been running a capri lsd axle for 13yrs now, and im only on my second axle,
the first axle never blew up, it is fine just got noisey inner bearings,
if i pulled my finger out and changed them i would have a spare lsd axle
