Hi all
I have just fitted a new holley blue pump and the twin port regulator
I am running a rover v8 with a holley 390vs carb
This is the first time i have ran this setup together.
My problem is the carb keeps on flooding so i have replaced the float valves and serviced the carb. this now seems a bit better but when i checked the fuel presure it was at about 9 PSI (got a gauge on the other port of the presure regulator) i have tryed to lower the presure by undoing the lock nut and screwing the alan bolt out a bit but it dosent make any difrence
It first of regulates to about 5psi then creeps up to near 10 after about 30 seconds or so
Any ideas? the pump and regulator are brand new
Thanks
Derek

Found the problem its down to the regulator.
I tested the pressure from the pump and its 13psi like it should be. I then hocked up an old filter king gave out 2.5 psi steady tweeked it up to 5.5 all is well
My new holley pressure reg is on its way back to real steel as we talk.
Cheers

Rust rust and more rust
Re: Holley pump and regulator problems
Glad to hear that you found and remedied the problem, Derek. The old-style blue Holley pressure regulators are notorious for "pressure creep". They can often be repaired by lapping the internal seat where the check ball seals...but why? There are several higher-value alternatives available.stagcar wrote:

Oh I agree completely, Derek. In fact, Holley's general "What's that? You want good odds that the part you're buying will actually function?? Well then, you'll need to select from our premium-priced line!" attitude is precisely the sort of thing that leads a company to have to file for bankruptcy protection twice within the span of 19 months, as Holley did on 02-12-08 and again on 09-28-09.stagcar wrote:The big problem is when you buy something new you kind of expect it to work!

Despite how the above might sound, I'm not a Holley-hater; I'm required to utilize their carburetors for nearly all of our customers who compete in NASCAR-sanctioned events. I truly hope Holley gets their act together...but I'm not holding my breath.
