rover v8 - change of crankshaft
I have a fuel injected 3.5 out of an sd1 at the minute, know what I was thinking of doing was putting a 4.6 crankshaft in it. Does anyone know if this is possible before I buy a 4.6 crank and realise its not?

Fraid not, the 4.6 has larger bearing sizes and you would need special rods and pistons as well or the pistons would be 5mm out of the tops of the bores at TDC and not really cost effective.
The 4.6 is also a 94mm bore the 3.5 is only 89mm.
Long stroke small bore engines have been built, but that was way back before the larger engines were produced by the factory.
You would be better off looking for a 3.9 engine which has the bigger bore but the same stroke as the 3.5. 3.9 half engines can be picked up fairly cheaply and can be made to produce up to 230BHP for a reasonable cost with stage 1 heads and a fast road cam and suitable inlet and exhaust systems.
