LT77 Remote Bushes

Post by topcatcustom »

I have got a remote now and waiting to give it a blast with the steam cleaner as it is caked. Not had a good look at it yet so this may be a stupid question, am I right in thinking that by fitting solid aluminium bushes the gear changes should be a bit less spongy than with the old rubber bushes? I know you can get poly ones but I can machine up some ally ones easily and free!

As the original bushes were only to remove/isolate vibration and noise from the gearstick into the cabin for an executive saloon I dont see too much of an issue.

I fitted polybushes to mine only because I could not be bothered to machine up alloy ones - that and Rimmers were have a vat free day.

Hi TC,

Why not try Delrin or HDPE (High Density Poly Ethylene)? It's easy to machine & cheap or a more expensive option but maybe more suitable, polyurethane.

Yeah I typed it into ebay and might get a small bar- might be handy and probably better than ally as it will squash up tight when bolted in so no chance of rattling but rigid too..... ta Ged
