the ones i have seen the gasket face on the inlet ports is tiny
I was wondering how likely it is to have problems
I will not tolerate any less than 100% reliability
opinions appreciated

My heads have been ported, I port matched the tin valley gasket myself, I then used a very thin smear of silicon sealant on both sides of the gasket. The silicon was left to cure for a few hours before the manifold was fitted.Teesdale_landrover wrote:I was thinking of investing in a set of ported heads on a n/a 3.9

Good thinking!Eliot wrote:are you talking about the gasket face between adjacent ports?
This is very thin, but from what I can picture in my mind it only leads to the same big hole (the plenum) so it doesn't matter?

no i was thinking about the outer edges of the ports,Eliot wrote:are you talking about the gasket face between adjacent ports?

Bear in mind that if you get the ported heads you really should port match the manifold. You can do this yourself but it will take you about two days in total.Teesdale_landrover wrote:no i was thinking about the outer edges of the ports,Eliot wrote:are you talking about the gasket face between adjacent ports?
