Bear in mind that all the power the engine is generating is heating the torque converter (which itself should have oil pumped through it).

You might get interesting results.....

You may be better off using a complete automatic gearbox, as the torque convertor needs supporting internally and and feeding with oil.
A old range rover 4wd setup complete with transfer box would provide you with the drum brake on the rear - which you could use to load the system up (lock the centre diff)
