Does anybody know where you can buy a new throttle pot from for a twin plenum? or can it be converted to use a regular pot?

Moose, The original pot would be unavailable I fear, but they are repairable, with care and they can be substituted.

You may also find alternative items from Range/Land Rover applications.

And no! A regular potentiometer will not work in this application - too much rotation.

No, not plug and play - it requires an adaptor plate.

You will need access to workshop facilities or a friendly engineer.

Sorry didnt read pdf as my pc wont let me open them?, i was going to take a look on my works pc on monday.

Do you know if the pots movement should move freely or should it be on a tight return spring like the standard units?

Moose, I seem to have assumed, incorrectly, that your throt pot looks like this sketched original version with three fixing holes fitted to the Rover SD1 Twin Plenum.

with slotted adjustment holes like this

None of the items I have seen (original or replacement or range/land rover), on the Twin Plenum have had a strong internal return spring. I believed they all had no internal spring and move freely.

If yours has an internal spring, perhaps you should post a photo or identify it by a makers name/part number if poss.

Your assumption was correct my description was poor

It is the one you have posted. The confusion was my existing pot had a spring resistance and this one dosent..which made me assume it was faulty - i should be at the stage to try it out next week so fingers crossed theres still life in it.
