So im putting a 4.6 rv8 into my triumph tr7.
Its using a lt77 gearbox with a lightened (but not balanced yet!) flywheel.
What grade of clutch should i use.
The engine has a more lively cam and lightly ported heads and will not be driven to hard. occasional weekend stuff.
I have seen ap do a red or brown "uprated clutch and plate" but the brown is so pricey, do ireally need it.
Your opinions would be greatly welcomed.

I think that you could go for an uprated clutch but don't go mad.
Most uprated clutches are heavier on the pedal and if you get stuck in a jam then this can lead to a very achey left leg and hot foot.
If you are doing a bit of weekend warrior work then a LUK clutch I think would work well for you.
Cost is almost always an issue so I would say don't go for the brown unless you think that you really do need it.
These are my thoughts on the matter.

There are a few things to consider really.
The first thing to consider is:
No matter how much grunt you have. Once you get used to what the 4.6 can do in the TR7, you will want more.
The back end of the TR7 is light, so you will break traction at the drop of a hat when you boot it.
This will give you the hump because you will spend a lot of time going nowhere with the rear tyres just lighting up. This will pee you off even more if you dont have a diff locker or a LSD.
Then you get yourself some better tyres to get more grip. This will reduce the amount of "one wheel burnouts" that you will end up doing. But that will put more pressure on the clutch. The list goes on and on.
But if you are putting a lively 4.6 in a TR7, I would go for the best clutch you can afford. If you dont end up having it large with the power and torque you will have in that engine. The clutch will last ages. If you do get the bug (and you will) then the better clutch wont let you down.
AP do good clutches. The McLeod clutches from Real Steel are supposed to be great as well.

I had a TT 4.5 rv8 in my TR8 and the only clutch I liked was a twin plate Mcleod but it was very expensive.
A single plate Mcleod would suit you as it's got an organic plate. Or, with a bit of work and redrilling the flywheel you could probably fit an uprated range rover clutch.
Or, look at the Spec website and see what's there. I think they do a ford item which would easily fit a rover.
