Depends how it fails.

If it goes short then ign light will still work but car will not turn off. If it goes open it will not light and alternator will not charge.

I tried relays to try and get round it but in the end the simple diode fixed it for me.

I assume you allready did this at the first startup.........otherwise your cam is nothing more than a broomstick now.

First startup, 2500rpm for 20 minuts, don't shut it off. I have seen more than one cam going crap by not doing this. It needs to be hardened in the first run.
That why you use special cam lube but that all washed away now ill guess.

Way to go Tony
You'll get used to the sound of those Rhoads mate allthough I'll have to admit that after the winterstop at its first ride during the spring I'll always get scared by the sound............untill I'll remember its just them Rhoads making me aware that they are there....
Hopefully you'll have it all sorted soon.

Throttle now works thank fook,
need a resisitor to convert the ecu signal for the rev counter, (or i will get dnb to make me one of his magic convertor boxes)
No speedo, need sd1 cable (look in wanted section)
brakes getting better. put that down to the rusty discs etc,
fuel wise getting better,
still a bitch to start though,

how she sounded after a bit of mapping on the idle fueling,
them rhoads lifters are nice aint they, noisey fookers

and to add insult to injury the sump had to be removed today
when building the bottom end i knew the tolerences were close crank/sump after some calcs i thought we had enough clearance,
but after doing a tighten up sequence on the sump bolts to stop an oil leak one of the front crank weights touched the ferkin sump on start up and clatered like a bitch
so it was strip the bottom end out and remove the sump and do some more panel beating :x
Image

all good now and dont clatter on the sump

looking good for the mot saturday now.
