Can you knowledgeable chaps help me out? I'm putting a 5.0 ltr from a chimaera/griffith into a cerbera, sacriledge in some peoples eyes I know. Fitting a short nose front cover with all ancils, exhaust wise I have looked at a few options inc the original manifolds, I've even made a set aswell but I'm not 100% happy with them. How good are the P38 type manifolds? I'm possibly going to reverse them and probably modifying to suit but I wasn't sure how good a manifold they are in terms of design, flow, power etc.
I would appreciate any feedback good or bad. Regards Simon

it depends on how much power you are after, if you are taking the original engine out and replacing it with the rover probably not much, they will suport about 180-200 bhp on 5 litres before they become a serious restriction. With a 5 litre in there they will be giving significant back pressure from about 4000 revs, may be less, but if you are only after 200 to 220 total then no issue as the engine should be able to make this even with the exhaust choking it. I would stick in a short duration cam with a wide LSA so as to avoid too much exhaust in the incomming charge so you can get the injection set up. If you want much more you will need good tube headers.
Personally if I was in your situation and wanted to change the engine on a cerbera I would stick in an LS or even LM series chevy. It would be cheeper, easier (it is more compact than a rover derived unit), alot more reliable than anything with TVR on it, and much more powerfull (the standard manifolds can handle about 400 bhp). But I'm not and your not asking that question

Will a RV8 make more power than TVR's own s6? I know thats not what you want to hear but curious! If you dont already have the engine I am with Mike, go with an ally LS engine that will easily outpower the Rover and better reliability, if you already have the RV8 can't you find some TVR foreward facing manifolds? With a 5.0 you cant go with any standard manifolds, try hunting for some TVR ones- I found some fairly cheap a few months ago but wouldn't quite fit my car.

The rover makes about 80 real bhp less than the straight 6 even in 5 litre form, and about 170 less than the TVR V8 (depending on actual spec of the TVR unit), by you have got to 5 litres on the rover it is about as delicate as the TVR unit if you try and tune it beyond about 260 BHP.
