Hi Guys
Its been a long time since I have posted or even been here thanks to the bar I am running at the moment.
Due to the hours, I have had NO time for the SD1 which is annoying however shortly I will have no bar = LOADS of time.
I want to upgrade my rocker assembly. I have seen v8-tuner.co.uk do a real steel replacement. This is a step up anyway from the current standard alloy.
Running a 3.9 with all the speedy bits such as performance cam, 4 barrel carbi etc.
Any ideas?
Would roller rockers be another option??
I have seen these for sale

There is nothing wrong with running standard alloy rockers and I personally don't know of any that have failed although there more than likely has been. Steel could actually be a bad thing if your looking to rev high as they put a lot more load on the rest of the valve train and cam. That said they are a lot cheaper than alloy ones if you have to change them anyway because of wear. Remember you will have to change the shafts as well as they tend to wear badly as well. There also used to be some very bad quality rockers on the go but you should be ok with V8 Tuner.
As for roller rockers I will leave to others as I know nothing about them.

I use standard ally rockers on my 4.6. and it gets a lot of abuse. In fact, the ally rockers I'm using now I bought 4 years ago. They have been fitted to two previous 3.5 race engines before I built the 4.6 lump. And they are still going strong on the 4 year old shafts. Mine sometimes revs to over 6000 on the dyno, and I'm using real steel dw050 twin spring sets as well. I did buy a set of steel rockers from flebay and they were rubbish. I've also since bought a new set of ally rockers from a well known supplier and they were crap as well. There seems to be a lot of cheap rockers around at the mo that have more play than 100,000 mile originals. I got my money back on the ally ones. And the supplier sent his whole stock back as they were really loose on a new shaft.

apparently the alloy ones can handle up to 7000 according to some sources. and the spacer springs are fine up to there as well. according to one source, the first thing to go, at about 6500, is the shaft through the end oil hole due to the unsupported rocker at the end. this can be solved with one of those billet end posts that are fairly cheap, then it is good to 7000 again.
those rollers are very nice, but at $1000??? jesus you could buy a main girdle, dry sump kit and a few other things for that money! the chevys win again with their damn cheap crane etc rollers
