Land rover discovery v8 oil pump (serpentine belt version)

Post by big tim »

Hi i have a new set of oil pump gears to replace the worn ones. When i took the cover plate off the inside of the timing cover housing i noticed the inner gear which goes on the crank has a timing mark on it. Where abouts is this supposed line up because there appears to be no other markings any where. Also does the serpentine belt version still need priming with Vaseline cheers Tim

I did have a little trouble priming my serp oil pump. I ended up pouring oil into the pump through one of the ports.

So in future, I think I'd use vaseline.

Chris.

Tim,

RPI are notorious for telling people that their engine have loads of problems and try and sell you something.
