Rocker Shafts

Hello all, following my earlier thread 'rocker dimensions' & my continuing saga to find a decent set of rocker arms & shafts i now have another question..
Having bought a set from RPi I find that although the new arms are a reasonable fit on the shafts (some play, but much better than steel ones I'm using at the moment), the pillars (from an old set of rockers) are quite loose.. & having tried the new arms on the old shafts i find they're a much better fit than on the new ones!.. Even though there is some wear on the old shafts do you see any problems with using them instead of the new?
