Rev counter erratic -ness !

Post by JSF55 »

Hi Guys since the misfire on the engine last month i've now noticed the rev counter is quite erratic, flipping up and down and never quite stable, ignition is pertronix coil and ignitor, rev conter is similar to the "tim" type gauge, 2" in a pod, anyone come across this before or is something about to go west :?

So thats where it went !

First place to check is the low tension supply to the coil as the tacho is indicating a problem in this area, could be as simple as a bad connection from ignition to coill.

If it's not that then possibly one of the ignition components is breaking down under load, so a check of the coil and amp if one is fitted.

Check your alternator is working

When the voltage starts dropping the gauges go wierd
