Hi Guys,a mate of mine has 2 RV8s,1 carb out of a j reg disco,1 efi out of L reg disco which is pre serpentine, both are 3.5s,what sort of power do these put out standard, also can he gain anything from mixing parts from the 2 engines or other RV8s,the engine will be fitted to a K reg Sierra Hatch Cheers Stu

Assuming they are both high compression engines they will be around 170bhp, need more info on them for a better figure. Not much point swapping parts around between the engines unless there is ware or damage on one of them. If it was me I would put a new cam in the EFI motor and if money allows a set of 9.75:1 pistons. This will easy bring the engine to around 200bhp or more depending on cam used.

is it using comp gaskets? If so the compression is even lower, well into 7. something. If the other engine is 9.35 then go with that and swap the efi over.

Ive recently finished reformatting and publishing a document all about modifying and tuning rover v8's - i'm not sure who originally wrote it (someone on here may know) - it was originally one massively long doc with no breaks or sections, but ive tried to break it down into managable chunks.

Excellent stuff there Eliot, would you mind if I copied and altered some parts from it for future inclusion on my own website?

just had a quick squint through that, some of it seems to be talking about the Buick version. Main bit that sticks out so far is the blue printing block liner part. The rover engine has never had cast in liners, they have always been shrink fit.
