3.9 efi transplant issue

Post by furniture5759 »

:D Hi guys, my first post but everyone seems friendly and knowledgeable on the v8forum so here goes.

Im in the last throws of converting my landrover 90 diesel to 3.9 v8 efi, just some of the electrics are baffling me.

got the four wires that i need to make the engine go connected and the fuel pumps connected alls well when i connect the battery but when i switch ignition on it blows the fuse ive put in for the ecu. any ideas what rating this fuse should be and also the wires n my fuel pump are blue and brown, i asume im right in thinking brown is live and blue is earth. thanks in anticipation.

blown fuses

Hi,

If you are blowing fuses the question one should ask is not only that the rating is correct but you must consider that as this is a safety device (weak link) then there is a possible reason such as incorrect wiring.

The diagrams are available on this forum and it is important to ensure you are absolutely meticulous.

Please don't assume that because you have wired it up "correctly" that it is actually correct. I have done this before and it is amazing that you can look at things time and time again and convince yourself it is right.

Also - check for chafed wires as with lots of things being moved about it is easy to break through the insulation. Use a multimeter and check for short circuits - a chore but very important.

Good luck
