SD1 starter wiring

Post by Simon L »

Chaps,

Had the V8 in the car, then decided to put a 3.9 (but retained the SD1 starter/flywheel).

Unfortunately I thiought I'd done a diagram of where the wires went. Guess what:D

Anyway, there are the two main wires on the motor itself (call them left and right), and two smaller connections (call them top and bottom).

I have the top one connected to the starter part of switch (ie when you do the last part of turning key to turn engine over) and it doesn't turn it over.

Should this be on the bottom connection?

I know starter works cos it was fine before I swapped engines and it starts engine when I jump it witha screwdriver or appropriate instrument.

Cheers very much.

ATB

Simon

PS Engine runs a treat btw:D

yup swap it over,
one of them is the solenoid trigger,
the other is a 12v direct feed to the ignition while cranking to give it a boost.
