I can bore out plenums to 71mm.

this is about cost of parts not building !!!

450 's got the real truth of it on this , if he knows were the source is lets not put him of!!! with how much you are loved up with rova un tec .

Anyone care to do some translation for me as I being only 3 years into messing about with RV8's I am struggling to keep up.

rova un tec - took me a while - Rovertec - Now a dead company as far as I can see
J E Engineering ?
J E Developments - John Eales - have met John being local to the company I work for
D J Ellis - As above - but now no longer trading from Nuneaton
V8Developments
RPI -
Real Steel

Anyone care to give a quick summary of the relationships of some of these companies and people for the unaware?

Does appear that an awful lot of roads lead to Chesmans and Real Steel at the end of the day. And I am assuming that many of the other specialists grew out of BL motorsports in one form or another.

do you want a debate on parts & prices or not! not how fab you think certain firms are.


ptp were power train products , main land rover supplyer of engines (std)
this is now supplyed by MCT , all new engined 4.ltr&4.6ltr oem range rover that is

basicly rip, v8 dev and je developments ( john eals) je engineering cov , Johnathan Dougless owns it now, they are into new l332's etc & lpg and oil burners

Dave Ellis would not have any thing to do with any of them, he's still going, but all on line

Ps correct most roads go to chesmans on machine work & real steel for small parts.

Cheers '450 - Is there anything other than simply being tuning companies involved in the RV8 that links the "Bedfellows" together or do some of the relationships with the key people involved go back to any common link?

I nearly forgot about Ian Richardson and Wildcat

As Chesman are not a million miles from Nuneaton I will be dropping off my next pair of heads to them for some work to see what they can do for me.

What about parts like rings, shells and gaskets, where's the best place to get good Q ones that don't cost the earth.
Current V8 car TVR 400SE 240 BHP
Current Project TVR Tasmin Race, with 3.9 running at 230 BHP
Currently building a 4.6 300 BHP Xbolted Engine for it. Solid Lifters and Group A rockers, Stange 4 heads, Pocketed piston, fully balanced.

£100 to machine one out as supplied. Although many of them are unsuitable to machine out because the castings are thin around the water jacket underneath. I've tried twice now to weld them up, but the metal doesn't weld very well at-all.

Personally never had anymore problem with 71mm conversion since it is done on lathe instead of milling machine.

Hi Ginneta/ Steve at chesmans ( Andy Chesman ,he did many jobs for me over the years, he was agreat guy / THE engineering brains behind John Eals & all !! he did the 3.9 for JE way back at the beginning , steve now the owner was Andy's Apprentice) Dave ellis flow tested every ones heads and they came out the best by far, talk to him he may let you have the data , very interesting stuff!!
PS all John Eals heads are dunn there, cut out the middle man and go for it.

Take a look at this photo - it shows the problem, you can see top centre its just broken through. I dont see how the techniqe of enlarging them has any baring on it. Some are thick in this area, many like this one are thin.
