As I know the ZF4HP24 is the stronger version of the ZF4HP22 with centre section of the box with the bigger internals parts which upgrades one of the weak links being the C1/C2 one way clutch. The solid planetry gearset on 24 type is much stronger and the front end is also different to accept larger diameter torque converter.

I know someone who has used the ZF box in an MG. The tunnel requires substatial mods to get it to fit.

The beauty about the BW65 conversion, is it just fits straight into the tunnel without any mods at all.

As usual nothing is simple, If I was to go to all the trouble of fitting an auto box it would be nice to have the benefit of a more modern box with the additional benefit of lock up and O/Drive and as always I like to find out how it can be done.

I'll start a new thread in the transmission section to find out how big the ZF is.
