Feel sorry though for Colin Fallows and Mark Newby, owners of the car and partners in the Primetime Land Speed Team. They were hocked to the sky and doubled mortgaged over their electric land speed attempt vehicle Emotion and the Top Gear attempt was going to be good publicity for them........and then the tyre blew plus there's probably an Elf & Safety investigation hanging over them and now they've lost one of their jet dragsters.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was the usual Top Gear lash-up and there are problems over the insurance.
I doubt you could insure that car but if you could it wouldn't be top gears insurance it would be their own. It probably didn't even cost the beeb for the car as the owners were probably going for the publicity. I don't think it was anybodies fault, just a racing incident.
