4x4 cam choice

Post by toger13 »

hi i wonder if you can help im currently rebuilding my 3.9 v8 engine out of my 98 AUTO discovery although my cam looks in perfect condition i was contemplating fitting an aftermarket cam but there are so many to chose from what fo you guys recomend?

im not too bothered about high end power its torque i want as its used for towing

is it worth upgrading or should i just stick to thge standard one?

Thanks
Si

I've used both an RPi TorqueMax and a Piper 270 in my 4.6V8 with an auto, and been pleased with both.

Chris.

i seem to remember Real Steel having a cam called 'the stump puller' for oodles of low down torque but a bit more breating on the high end than a standard cam

or you could get one thats only up on the std (worth 10hp prob?) but then you have to ask yourself whether its worth the 125 quid or so. better off removing the spare wheel.... its free and probably the same power to weight ratio increase!

obviously i went for two short of a full race cam for my engine (the typhoon) for mine, but then i like to use the upper end of things... :D

forget pipper they are way of on 25 year old grinds.they are out of touch with there products , they only badge cams any way , they do not do specifics. Just like kent / kant cams .
