Camshaft selection
Hi folks, i am now in possesion of a 4.0 hc tvr engine to transplant into my mk1 cortina, i will be running an offy manifold and holley carb. What fast road cam do you recomend, its supposed to have 9.8 to 1 comp, and i really dont want a lot of work just to replace the 70k mile camshaft for something more suitable for use with the carb. With thanks, Simon.

Simon,
If you have not got the manifold and carb yet i would recommend the Edelbrock Performer manifold which has much better flow potential and probably the Edelbrock 500 (1404) carb which is easier tio set up and has a bit more flow potential than a Holley 390 if that what your thinking of using.
The Edelbrock manifold is a little taller than the Offy so best to check whether you have enough under bonnet clearance, the Cortina guys can probably advise.
Cam wise it all depends on your intended use and the spec of the cylinder heads. Don't forget it is essential to fit new lifters with a new cam and to run the cam in properly.
The TVR 4.0 motor is usually based on the 3.9 engine and not the later 4.0 rover spec engine.
Kevin.
