The main header tank connection would normally be at the top of the radiator opposite side to the top hose. Most radiators from the early 80s have this connection on them so I would be surprised if yours didnt. If your tank also has a small connection this would normally go to the highest part of the system, usually the top hose on an RV8. The SU manifold has a connection for this but your manifold wont. I have home made metal radiator pipes so it was easy enough to put a connection into the highest point. It needs to be restricted a lot as in 1-2 mm bore as its only job is to purge air out. You don't want too much flow as it is effectively bypassing the radiator.
