they are correct, on early heads there is a bolt hole missing on the upper outer edge (look at power steering pump bracket adaptor we made) where the nut is welded on the plate is where another bolt hole and lug on the head should be,

regarding perry nah doubtful mate, but you never know
i still have a lot to do, engine needs to be finished, then start work on the car, wire in the coil packs etc, fuel lines, reconfig the ecu to wasted spark,
get the fuel and ignition mapped then think about the nitrous, all before the v8 day, don't think so

well had a good day today, tried 2 alternator brackets,
ERR4514 fitted a treat, (3.9 serp discovery?)
and also the bracket i got from forum member matchmetisse (no part number on the casting) which sat the alternator even lower than the above bracket for even more height clearance,

Image

had to change the stat housing as my o/e sd1 housing fouled the alternator, But this one the sensor also fouled the alternator but the top hose outlet is in the correct place.
Image

I need this one here: (this was borrowed from an engine for fit up reference) this has no sensor hole drilled.
Image

This is how close it is with the sensorless housing.
Image

Crank sensor ring fitted:

Tony

On that belt set up can you confirm what you have
Bottom pulley is crank
Then following the belt in a clockwise direction
Unknown pulley
Alternator
Water pump (reverse rotation to standard one)
Unknown Pulley

So is one of the unknown pulleys a power steering pump?
Is the other an addition ? / Dry sump??? pump

If the 2 unknown pulleys are idlers why? as they rob power?

Could you not run
Crank
Idler
Water pump
Alternator low and on right side as viewed?

It would give you more wrap around on alternator or is slip not a problem on serpentine belts?

Less bits - less to go wrong

bottom pulley is crank,
next going clockwise from crank is belt tensioner,
then alternator, then water pump then up to power steering pump and back to crank

Retro is still iffy mate,
still need to sort fuel lines,
need a 1.4kw starter (solenoid under starter as per SD1) not to the side.
clutch conversion to sort out,
water hoses to sort out,
coil packs to fit and wire up,
crank sensor bracket to make and fit,
engine mounts to make,
gearbox mount to make,
new exhaust to mod and fit,
oil cooler pipes to sort,
oil cooler sandwich plate to sort (parrallel outlets)
map the fuel and ignition (need to try and sort an ignition map to try and start the engine yet)

thats just a few things to sort mate :-(

Don't worry about the initial ignition mapping. I have something that'll sort that out :)

not done much on the engine this weekend,
lack of funds at present.

BUT hopefully have sorted the serp belt problem now,
and we may just have enough clearance for a range rover 1.4kw starter due to the small compact size it is, it looks like the solenoid mounted on the side may just clear.

Well the plenum was looking tired and the paint was starting to come off in places,
Image

so its been stripped back to ally,
been etch primed and awaiting top coat, (pics to follow)
have new rubber seals and locking tabs to go on the shafts this time round also.

does anyone know of a exploded diagram of a twin plenum chamber?

Tony,

That is looking nice, is it black or gun metal grey difficult to tell from the pic.

Great progress and youv'e still got 4 1/2 months to the Forum Drag Day.

Keep up the good work.

Kevin.
