Which cam in Lund Engines Standard Plus kit ?
Hi,
greetings from Sweden, my first post here.
Question no 1 : Which type of cam was part of a Lund Engines Standard Plus cam kit purchased around 2005 for a Range Rover 3.5 flapper-type EFI ? Lund Engines doesnt seem to exist anymore.
Question no 2 : Will such a kit fit straight into a 1990 3.9 14CUX engine, being used for off-roading only (looking for torque, not revs or top-speed) ? Or will I be better off with a brand new 3.9 standard cam and lifters ? The cam kit has only done 8000 miles in the 3.5. Don't plan any other mods for the 3.9.
/Peter

Lund Engines went under a long time ago mate, unfortunately.
The cam in question was probably an 'LE1' or 'LE2' variety, both of which were ground by Kent or Piper Cams (can't remember, sorry).
If its in a Range rover I would think it would be the LE1, which is a 'high torque' camshaft. I use the same in my current 3.9.
Either way, I would advise NOT to re-use and old camshaft; they are considered 'consumable' in the RV8, so probably best to just fit a new one and new lifters as well, otherwise it's highly likely you'll mince your engine quite quickly. Rover V8 camshafts are, however, compatible between engines, although the later ones were machined for the cam retention plate (as were the Lund ones i think)

Chod, nothing unfortunate about "L" going under, just a pity he wasn't wearing concrete overboots at the time!
Having said that, I've an LE1 cam in my 110 which I'm toying with the idea of replacing. Personally, I've never been happy with the idle quality or the way it runs out of steam at 4000 ish rpm. The mid-range torque is very good however. I'm toying with a Viper Hurricane - I've built a lot of 3.9's with that cam and had very pleasing results. Good torque, nice build of power and decent top-end breathing as well, be interesting to see how it works in the 4.7.

Unfortunate for me, since I had planned on suing him for over £4k, but it's kinda hard to do that when there isn't a business to sue, or a guy who has f-all assets.badger wrote:Chod, nothing unfortunate about "L" going under, just a pity he wasn't wearing concrete overboots at the time!![]()
