Hiya all, I'm fitting a V8 3.5 Carb engine from a Land Rover 110 into a 69 Land Rover series 2a. The issue I've got is I need to purchase an ignition coil. The engine manufacture date is june 1987. I've had some people tell me the ignition coil should be used in conjunction with a ballast resistor and some who say use a standard 12v coil. All I can say at the moment is that the dizzy has a blue cap and is electronic ignition. there are two thin white wires coming off the side of the Dizzy. what I'm hoping is that someone will be able to tell me which coil I need and also if I need the ballast resistor. I will check on the part number on the dizzy later today if this will help.
Kind Regards Shane.
Which Coil

Shane,
The correct Lucas coil is a DLB198 or Bosch equivalent.
The 35DLM8 should have an amplifier on the side of the dizzy body into which there should be a plug with two wires that go to the coil.
Don't be tempted to buy a sports coil as that will not work with the 35DLM8 as it has the wrong low tension resistance.

Shane,
You can get a matching Intermotor amp from most motor factors and they are a lot cheaper and are remotely mounted which is an advantage as this keeps them cooler.
There is a sticky thread in this section about them and how to mount them.
