3.9 serp engine

hey guys need some advice i have been offered a 3.9 rv8 which is a serp engine. but i dont no if the serp front will fit in my mk3 capri engine bay the engine is a 1993 spec engine. is it possible to convert the engine to a non serp type. any advice would be grateful thanks

You should be OK. The only complication I can think of is if the crankshaft nose isn't compatible, and I don't know the answer to that.

Hello Kylepiggy,

You can change the timing cover for an SD1 type, fit either an SD1 or P6B waterpump.

The oil pump front cover and gears along with the distributor will all just swap across.

You may need to change the sump to either an SD1 or P6B issue too.

what is the pros and cons of a srp front end on a 3.9 i will be running a carb setup as opposed to efi prob weber 500 kit. have not decided what ignition system yet though

Serpentine refers only to the circuitous route of the single fanbelt around all the pulleys.

It makes no difference as to whether you run a carb or efi as far as the front cover etc is concerned.
