flywheel, gearbox, big bottle of fairy power spray, rebuild kit for the carbs(diaphrams will be perished), new distributor cap etc, new oil. then depends what you want to do with it.

hahahahaha..... the engine was removed from a running car, and sounds as sweet as a nut.

i know that i need a fan and alt, but is there anything plainly obvious that is missing????

what can i say, the wheelbarrow is a classic.

Hello there...

The thermostat bypass hose that you can see in the third photo joining the waterpump looks rather bloated, so might be good idea to replace.

Do you have the other elbow and the air cleaner?

Just bear in mind as well that the Rover V8 hides it's problems better than any other engine around.

If it's done over 50k then the cam is probably flat and the heads will be blowing into the valley.

New cam/lifters, head skim/gaskets and timing gear/chain is pretty cheap insurance.

I would pull a rocker cover and see what sort of state it's in.

If it's black & sludgy with loads of crusty bits, then it's been neglected and has a short life left....

all looks great under the covers....

but i think i will clean up and relace with new parts anyway as i work for a garage and get a great discount on the parts i need.

think this is going to be a fun project.
