Gotech-MFI

Post by Ian Anderson »

Is anyone here had experience with them?

See
http://www.gotech.co.za/

A friend of my brother's dropped in and was enthusing about them.
The info on their site and downloads seems to show an awful lot and would be a lot easier for an electrical novice like me to undertake (compared to MS where each time I read something I get more confused!).

Cheers
Ian

Ian,

Had a quick look at their site and for a V8 their system looks a little limited, if you really want simple you'd be better of talking to Mark Adams and getting him to sort you anew chip for the hotwire.

The main problem with hotwire is that if you have a cam with a fair bit of overlap you get reversion pulses through the airflow meter which makes it think it's flowing more air than it actually is and that causes it to tell the ECU that you need more fuel and that I suspect why you have the kangerooing at lowish RPM.

The airflow smooths out as revs rise and the problem goes away, i spoke to Mark and tols him what cam I was going to run in the new engine and he said it was not a problem.

What cam have you got?

It does annoy me that he wants about £400 for one of his chips but if you went with Megasquirt or something similar you've got the purchase cost and then set up time on a dyno to get it running properly which would probably add up to quite a bit more.

Kevin

I have a JE102 cam in it
And yes a lot of lift and a a lot of overlap

So that explains the problem with the kangaroo just need to decide if I go Carb or try and get an ECU change to sore it out - one that does not use an afm

I also agree Mark Adams chip is hellishly expensive but does seem to work wonders. That said I believe if you want him to get it tuned you can say good bye to £1000 for his chip and then time on a rolling road

The carb sounds better all the time! I like the keep it simple principle!
Now quad webbers that would be even nicer but I'd not see change out of £2500

the JE102 is said to be
43/79/79/43 302 degrees .500" lift

whatever that means

Thats a pretty lumpy cam. but have a word with Mark the chip is £395 + probably a couple of hours set up time on the rolling road so should not be as much as you suggested.

Even if you wnet back to a carb you still have set up time to allow for.
