Advice please

Post by mwncidur »

Greetings all,

Anybody give me a realistic value of what these bits are worth? I've had them for a while now lurking in my shed for a project, but have now decided to move them on to go towards funding a chevy.

1. 8 x new pistons 3 1/2" believed to be Holden with rods 6 3/8" centre to centre.

2. 1 x pair of heads believed to be sdi? mint, clean, double valve springs, valves measure 32mm and 38mm. inlet port 24mm x 43mm.

3. crank 3 1/2" throw. and flywheel to suit.

photo's below of pistons and heads.

Ok cool, were they intended to become a stroker kit for a 3.5 or similar?

Yep, I was trying to get near 5.0 or bigger, but with different pistons.

Ok cool, could you find out the cranks journal sizes too, any ideas where the crank originates from?

I see, well alot of 4.3 stroker kits intended for a 3.5, that being fully balanced plug and play kits are about £1500 new.

What sort of boltinable state is all your bits? Or is the machining yet to be carried out? If its yet to be done i'd guess about £500+ if you can supply enough info on them and how to adapt it all to fit.

Also the heads, if you can get the part numbers from them to identify what precied model they're from you're bound to find a similar set on fleabay so you could watch a few pairs on ther and get an idea of cost. Anything over £100 would be a suprise though for them.

Thats what i reckon at least!

That combo might work in a p76 block which i believe is has half an inch extra deck height but it would be one hell of a squeeze in a rover.

Hi your combo does'nt work in 3.5.

All this parts works only in Leyland P76 4.4 who has an + 17mm tall deck than standard Rover V8.

Your pistons are Holden 173 Commodore. This pistons are often used in remplacement of P76 piston.

In 3.9 blok you can use Chevy 302 +0.02'' piston with chevy rod to create an 5.0 .

But be care, as I know, grind P76 crank to 2.3'' small journal crank seems not an good idea. It is better to use late X-Bolted block with 2.5'' large journal crank. Genuine P76 has 2.5495''.

Cheer.

Thanks for the info wotland, I have got a 4.6 block that is being bored out for 96mm pistons and top hat liners put in. the crank was going to be modified to fit that. with that setup I was looking at something very close to 5.2. As stated above this is being sold to fund a chevy. once the block has been bored and I have it back this will also be for sale.

So my next question is how much is a 96mm top linered block worth?
